As someone who is new on the scene of the blogging world, I am always up for challenges that gets our content out there, especially if it involves renovating! I did a little exploring on some of my fellow home renovation bloggers’ sites and saw something that caught my eye. The One Room Challenge.

Established in 2011, this challenge features 20 designers and a number of guests to pick one room in their house and, over the course of six weeks, create something magical with it! Each week, there will be a post dedicated to the transformation on our blog and a link back to the One Room Challenge showcasing the room. It creates a super supportive environment to share the progress, keep us accountable and pick up some inspiration along the way!

Thursday, April 4, 2019, we will reveal our room design plans, but I will share with you which room I will be picking (and why) today!

The Nursery

Of course! I already had plans to renovate Miss Emily’s room now that she has transformed from a little baby to a sweet little girl. I let her help with the inspiration for her room and she came back with some epic input.

I am putting together an inspiration board for the transformation and will link up to it on Thursday when I have it a bit more complete. Right now, though, here are some reasons why I wanted to transform her room:

  1. The carpet is disgusting. This is the primary reason. I have been replacing the flooring throughout the rest of the house with engineered hardwood to help battle allergens, in part (my family is extremely sensitive to allergies!), and her room is last on the list.
  2. She transitioned from crib to toddler bed like a champ. I am talking we have had maybe one or two days out of the months she has been in this little bed where she gave us any push back. Her main motivator was what her toddler bed will turn into if she earns it by doing well. She is working for this transformation!
  3. We have an issue with book storage! We love reading to her and she loves the chance to pick out her favorites for us to read, but right now we don’t really have a good solution for storing them close to where we read.
  4. Toy storage is also a problem. She has a lot and they are all in random little boxes throughout her room. I would like to consolidate and have it look a little neater in there.
  5. She is no longer a tiny little baby and I think, as does she, that she is ready to put her own little personality into this room. So, she will be helping me with the design. How fun!

All in all, this might be a bit ambitious to tackle this renovation in only six weeks while trying to manage a toddler, a major real estate rehab and website management for a few people, but we will see how it goes! I will never know if I can do it unless I try! See you all on Thursday! 🙂

What room would you pick for your one room challenge?

Did you transform the nursery into a toddler room or just leave it alone?
