If you’re just joining us here, welcome! My name is Michelle and while a healthcare consultant by day, I am a fearless DIY-er and real estate investor by…. night? Honestly, anytime I have some free time. Each spring and fall I like to participate in a little big challenge called the One Room Challenge (ORC). The ORC Fall 2020 round will be my fourth (and by far most interesting) round â€“ we will be tackling the SAME room we did in the spring, but turning it into a woodland twin nursery.

The drama that surrounded that final reveal was documented over on my IG page, but the quick and dirty of it is this: I chose the wrong lumber for my murphy bed and it broke. Then I discovered I was expecting twins by way of an ER visit and triplet miscarriage. So, I am completely surprised I actually pulled this woodland twin nursery off! Let’s check out where we’ve been.

Week 1 | Week 2 | Week 3 | Weeks 4 & 5 | Week 6

The Beginning

To fully appreciate how far this room has come, we have to go way, way back! Before this past spring, the extra bedroom in our house had undergone a flooring transformation. Despite it’s progress, it was unfinished and basically serving as a junk yard.

While the floors were an improvement over the ugly brown carpet that used to live here, it still didn’t have much going for it. The vision for this past spring was to transform it into both a guest bedroom AND a home office. It’s a small space, though, so that would be challenging. Ultimately, I went down the path of building an epic built in murphy bed that would be disguised as shelving units while it was up. Then, when it was time to sleep – drop it down and voila!

However, I chose the wrong materials and the murphy bed broke right after the reveal! Such is the DIY life, right? Lessons learned.

Keeping It Simple

Twin pregnancy is hard. Really hard. So, my goal was to keep this as simple as I could – with only one major DIY included – the wallpaper mural. Even still, it was a real challenge finding the energy to complete this reveal. Now, MONTHS after the reveal on Instagram, since the twins have been born, it is even harder to find the time and energy to write about it!

The nursery came out so beautifully, though, I had to dedicate a full post to the reveal even if it meant it was extremely late. To read more about the twins, I think I will start a little twin section about my experiences carrying and raising these two! That day will be far in the future most likely. For now, let’s check out the final product!

The Woodland Twin Nursery

After the Woodland Twin Nursery Reveal

I will end up making a beautiful, probably long, post about the boys’ arrival. Until then, I’ll give you the footnotes. Jacob and Lee came 7 weeks early on January 10th, 2021 in a very emergent way. VERY soon after, the military said we were moving. While the boys were preemies, I had the pleasure of twin mom-ing and fixing up/staging our Texas home. Then when they were 4 months old, I flew across the country with all of my kiddos. Kudos to my sister for helping me on that stressful day… it was… interesting.

So, now we are in Maryland! The boys are approaching 9 months old and, after all of the time off from blogging/IG/Facebook – I’m considering a rebrand! Obviously the same stuff, just slightly crazier now with three tiny humans.

I hope you all have been well! Keep up with me on Instagram (when I occasionally check in) or on Facebook. 🙂
